Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham and London. We are currently recruiting for a paralegal to join our private client team within our Cardiff Office. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for you to assist the department in delivering high quality legal advice and guidance to clients with regard to a range of private client matters in a cost-effective manner. This will include supporting the administrative needs of the team as well as undertaking some fee‑earning work as necessary.
Duties include:
- Being the first point of contact for initial client enquiries.
- Providing assistance to all fee earners across the department in relation to administrative as well as aspects of legal work.
- To deal courteously and promptly with clients and colleagues in relation to any instructions or queries arising.
- Processing accounts forms as required.
- Receive and sort any internal and external mail.
- Maintenance of files, ensuring all paperwork is filed accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Undertake formatting, scanning, printing, and copying of documents.
- Opening /closing files and archiving original documents using case management system.
- Requesting files, deeds and documents from storage.
- Retrieving original Wills from the strong room and updating the team's Wills database.
- Preparation of documents for signature, including binding engrossments.
- Arranging meetings as requested including equipment and catering.
- Demonstrate a level of knowledge and skill corresponding with experience.
- Comply with the Firm’s internal processes on time recording, billing, credit control and compliance.
- Occasional travel between offices and to external meetings when necessary.
- Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.
What you will need:
- Experience of working in a legal/ similar environment or a law degree/ other relevant qualification.
- Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and all colleagues across the Firm.
- Computer literacy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise, meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
- High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Must be able to work as part of a team as well as to use own initiative.
- Projection of a professional image at all times.
In Return:
In return you will have the opportunity to develop your career within our high ranked private client team based in our Cardiff office and will be paid a competitive salary (dependent on experience) as well as qualifying for other benefits such as a day off for your birthday and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- 35 hour working week - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to a maximum of 30 days for additional years of service).
