At Gegan Environmental Management, we're transforming the way businesses manage waste.

As a B Corp Certified environmental management company, we help organisations reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and recover value from materials that would otherwise be lost.

We work across every sector, delivering innovative waste and resource management solutions that create both commercial and environmental value.

Following significant investment in our food waste infrastructure, we're looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Food Waste Commercial Manager to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the growth of one of the UK's most ambitious environmental management companies.

You will be responsible for building long-term supplier relationships and securing food waste and organic by-products that support Gegan's expanding national food waste network, our strategically located food waste transfer facility in Leeds, and our innovative AD Soup production facility, where we produce high-quality engineered feedstocks for anaerobic digestion plants across the UK.

You'll have the opportunity to shape a rapidly growing division, influence business strategy and make a genuine impact on the UK's transition towards a more circular economy.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for identifying, securing and developing long-term supply agreements for food waste and organic by-products across the UK.

Working with food manufacturers, processors, retailers, distributors, logistics providers and waste producers, you will develop strategic partnerships that provide sustainable, long-term feedstock solutions for our growing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and secure new food waste and organic by-product supply opportunities.
  • Build long-term commercial relationships with food manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and waste producers.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and long-term procurement contracts.
  • Manage and develop an existing supplier portfolio while continuously identifying new opportunities.
  • Work closely with our operations and logistics teams to ensure efficient collections and service delivery.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing and competitor activity to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Represent Gegan at customer meetings, networking events and industry exhibitions.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, procurement forecasts and pipeline reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support the continued growth of our food waste business.

About You

We're looking for someone who is commercially driven, ambitious and enjoys building long-term business relationships.

You'll ideally have experience within food waste procurement, waste management, recycling, anaerobic digestion, food manufacturing or a closely related sector.

You'll also have

  • A proven track record of winning and developing commercial relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • The confidence to identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and market knowledge.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a growing team.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Experience within anaerobic digestion, by-product trading, animal feed, organics recycling or environmental services would be advantageous but is not essential.

What We Offer

  • Uncapped performance bonus.
  • Company laptop and mobile phone.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Genuine career progression within a rapidly growing business.
  • The opportunity to help shape one of the UK's most exciting environmental management companies.

Why Join Gegan?

This is an opportunity to be part of a business that's challenging the traditional waste management model.
