Geeka Media are looking for an individual passionate about technology, PC hardware and gaming to work from our Coventry office premises full-time (37.5 hours per week). The role is centered around writing high quality, PC technology-oriented news and review content for the geekawhat.com website. The chosen candidate will work at the heart of a social media, gaming and technology business, testing PC hardware products (including PC components, gaming peripherals, laptops, monitors and full systems) and writing review articles and buyers guide on geekawhat.com.

Alongside this, the successful candidate will use press releases from the biggest brands in tech, writing articles from these about the latest PC hardware, component and consumer technology products. Passion for writing and technology are crucial, with training provided in product photography, website CMS and product testing. The successful candidate will work within a tight knit team of 9 full time employees across various media disciplines, learning directly from everyone in each area of the business.

What You’ll Be Doing…

  • Testing the latest technology products, before compiling an impartial write up on the pros and cons
  • Abiding by best practices for product testing, and implementing defined and documented benchmark procedures
  • Coordinating delivery, collection and general management of product samples for website and other content
  • Writing content around products, new releases, current affairs and buyers guides with the technology space
  • Liaising with brand partners to provide product feedback and associated communications around product testing
  • Writing articles in a time effective manner, working with other members of the team to compile required assets – photography, performance graphs, video content
  • Breaking down content within the media business for social media, including pulling quotes from written content or writing press releases
  • Tracking performance metrics of online content, to evaluate the most effective types of content to produce
  • Providing article drafts for feedback and improvement, acting on numerous rounds of feedback. (This process may be very lengthy at the start!)
  • Building and testing PCs for gaming, editing and rendering at different price points and varying levels of complexity

Required Skills & Must Haves

  • Strong writing skills, with an eye for detail in terms of spelling, grammar and language
  • High levels of proficiency in either Microsoft Office or Google Docs
  • Passion for technology, specifically in the PC space (a passion for gaming and/or PC hardware is a bonus)
  • Genuine opportunity to work in a fun environment, with a close knit team
