PART TIME (16hrs) Assistant Store Manager - Geek Retreat Northampton (located inside Hobbycraft)
Geek Retreat is on a mission to share our love for all things geeky - from TCG, RPG, boardgames to anime and sci-fi, our growing network of gaming cafes and stores around the UK are the friendliest places to meet, eat, trade, and game.
We\'re looking for an experienced, reliable and self motivated retail or hospitality manager who can assist the Store Manager with the smooth daily running of our cafe in order to ensure sales, performance and customer service levels are achieved. Core knowledge of contemporary TCGs / RPGs is a must.
- This role would suit an individual with excellent communication skills.
- Experience within hospitality or retail management is essential and a general understanding of social media is preferable.
- An interest in geek culture is also a must for everybody in our company.
Job Role
- Help ensure the smooth running of all areas of the shop, including the retail areas, cafe, and gaming areas
- Oversee the smooth running of the cafe area, serving hot drinks and cakes while maintaining cleanliness, speed, and great customer service
- Support and supervise a small team, helping to maintain high standards and team morale
- Deliver a welcoming and consistent customer experience that reflects the Geek Retreat brand
- Greet and assist customers, helping them learn how to play our games and feel part of the community
- Support the store manager in planning, promoting, and running regular events
- Ensure the store meets all health and safety and food hygiene standards at all times
- Handle customer queries and feedback in a friendly, professional manner
- Open and close the shop area when required, taking responsibility for daily cash handling and shift preparation
- Step up and lead shifts in the manager\'s absence, ensuring service and standards are maintained
Person Specification
● At least two years of experience managing a team in a hospitality or retail environment;
● Must be organised and flexible working shifts;
● Have the ability to build, motivate, develop and engage the team;
● Awesome attitude & work ethic;
● A bit of a geek
