This is an exciting role to support the expansion of Global Education Group both in the UK and internationally. You will be a key part of the Group Tax Team, reporting to and working closely with the Group Head of Tax. Your primary responsibility will be to lead VAT and indirect tax compliance for the group's operations, and minimise exposure to costs and risks with the provision of expert guidance on complex VAT matters. You will work with colleagues across the business on a diverse range of activities to ensure compliance with tax legislation.
The focus of the role is to manage the worldwide VAT and indirect tax compliance of the group, as well as providing specialist guidance and support on all aspects of business taxation, including clear advice and training to colleagues. The postholder will seek to develop processes clearly and efficiently, and engage in system development in support of this where possible.

Job Location: GBS, Manchester or GBS Leeds or GBS Greenford.
Work hours: 40 hours/Week.
Responsibilities:
- Lead on the preparation, management and submissions of monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting, filing and payment requirements.
- Work with key stakeholders to facilitate continuous improvement of systems and processes to ensure compliance with legislation and deadlines in an efficient manner and making sure tax is considered as part of any process change.
- Provide support and guidance to the business on the tax aspects of activities undertaken across the group including risk management and cross-border tax support.
- Monitor and manage compliance associated with overseas activities and online learning.
- Develop and implement processes as required.
- Actively engage in system development and on-going improvements to maintain robust tax accounting records and ensure the accuracy of data across financial systems.
- Proactively manage the Group's VAT exposure through regular review and use of VAT groupings as required.
- Assist the Group Head of Tax to train and develop wider finance staff to enable others to identify when specialist tax support is needed.
- Liaise with external advisors, HMRC and actively participate within the sector.
- Work with the Group Head of Tax on wider taxation issues affecting the Group.
- Any other duties appropriate to the grade as may be required.
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant and/or tax advisor with significant relevant post qualification experience (VAT, corporation tax and employment taxes) in UK tax compliance and advisory, ideally within a complex organisation.
- Demonstrable experience of identifying and implementing system and process improvements.
- Proactive and self-motivated individual with commercial awareness, and an ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
- Strong communication skills, with a real interest in finding practical solutions and helping others learn and develop.
- Attention to detail and commitment to continuous personal development.
- Excellent management, planning and organisational skills, experienced in conflicting workloads and priorities.
- Good IT skills, highly proficient in Excel and experience of working with a large ERP.
Desirable:
- Education sector experience.
- Knowledge and experience of overseas taxes.
- Experience of Unit 4 ERP.
