Salary: £32,000 Per Annum
Working hours are 40 hours per week. Shifts may fall across day, evening, and weekend periods.
Role: Student Success Tutors (SSTs) provide direct support for assigned students/groups through meetings, proactive holistic support, and coaching, and indirect support via email, phone, and tracking of academic performance with the Faculty Manager as required. They collaborate within the faculty and across departments to triage problems and direct students to specialist services, ensuring an excellent student experience throughout the learning journey.
Responsibilities:
- Support students in and outside of the classroom to increase outcomes such as attendance, submission rates, MEQ completion rates, and student satisfaction.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of GBS policies, procedures, academic regulations, and extenuating circumstances relevant to the partnership.
- Be proactive in identifying and supporting students at risk, including contacting students before or after class, calling students, and following up on support initiatives.
- Assist students with workload management and life organisational skills, contributing to faculty monitoring meetings and actively following up on cases.
- Guide and signpost students to further support as necessary, ensuring relevant services are in place for each case.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in FE/HE and in academic coaching.
- Experience in a widening participation environment or as a teaching assistant.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Effective people, organisational and conflict‑management skills.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as required.

- Evidence of performance to the highest standards of professionalism within a student‑focused service approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Committed team player able to work under pressure to tight timelines.
- Demonstration of a proactive outlook to work.
