The EventMAP System Administrator will manage, configure, and maintain our EventMAP platform (Timetabler and Booker apps primarily). The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in system administration, with a focus on managing EventMAP. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of the EventMAP system, supporting users, and optimising system configurations to meet organisational needs.

ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and maintain the EventMAP system, ensuring its optimal performance and availability.
  • Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades as required, ensuring minimal downtime via the Change Advisory Board.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly to ensure a smooth user experience.
  • Provide support for EventMAP users, resolving issues related to system access, functionality, and configuration.
  • Conduct user training sessions to improve user understanding and effective use of the system.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system use, best practices, and troubleshooting.
  • Configure and customize the EventMAP system to align with the organization's scheduling and attendance management requirements.
  • Create and manage user roles, permissions, and workflows to optimize system use and security.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and integrity within the EventMAP system.
  • Generate and analyse reports related to event scheduling, resource utilization, and other metrics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Integrate EventMAP with other systems and platforms via bespoke API or native integration functionality.
  • Implement automation for recurring tasks and processes to enhance system efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Head of Timetabling and Academic Service teams as well as collaborating with wider IT Systems department.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience as a System Administrator, with specific experience in event management or scheduling systems like EventMAP.
  • Strong higher education domain knowledge, technical knowledge of system administration, including experience with system updates, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data management principles.
  • Experience in user support and training, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with EventMAP or similar event management platforms.
  • Knowledge of system integration and API management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of data security best practices.
