Location: Any GBS UK campus except Leeds (On-Site)

Salary:Β£70,000 - Β£75,000 per annum

Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

The role: We are seeking an Associate Dean to provide leadership and management for a new BSc (Hons) Business & Digital Transformation programme (subject to validation). Reporting to the Dean, you will be accountable for the quality, standards, and academic performance of the programme and serves as the principal subject expert for the discipline across the Faculty.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Relevance and Subject Leadership - Maintains and leads curriculum development and enhancement, ensuring the programme remains current, academically rigorous, and aligned with disciplinary, professional, and sector developments
  • Learning Resources and Teaching Effectiveness - Reviews and enhances learning and teaching resources to ensure quality, consistency, and effective student learning outcomes
  • Student Engagement and Participation - Monitors student engagement and performance, identifying risks and implementing targeted interventions to improve outcomes and satisfaction
  • Assessment Quality, Marking and Efficacy - Leads assessment strategy and improvement, ensuring consistent, high-quality assessment practices, strong student outcomes, and compliance with academic standards across all locations
  • Programme Performance and Student Outcomes - Reviews programme, module and cohort performance and monitors continuation, progression, completion, attainment, and graduate outcomes, implementing targeted improvements and reporting risks and priorities to the Dean
  • Academic Quality, Standards and Compliance - Maintains academic quality, standards, consistency, and continuous improvement ensuring compliance with the awarding partner, regulatory and institutional academic requirements while addressing and escalating quality concerns as needed
  • Academic Staff Performance - Leads and manages subject specialist lecturers, driving high performance, effective resource deployment, and strong programme quality, student engagement, and outcomes


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline, or a Master's degree together with significant professional expertise and standing within the subject area.
  • Significant experience of teaching and academic management within higher education
  • Credibility as a recognised subject expert with academic staff, students, and external stakeholders
  • Successful track record of improving programme performance and student outcomes
  • Strong understanding of curriculum design, learning and teaching, assessment, academic quality, and academic standards
  • Experience of managing academic staff and improving academic performance
  • Experience of programme monitoring, review, and enhancement
  • Strong understanding of the UK higher education quality and regulatory environment
  • Ability to use performance information to identify issues, inform decision-making and deliver continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication, judgement, and leadership skills


Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of multi-campus or distributed higher education delivery
  • Experience of working with awarding partners and collaborative provision
  • Experience of programme approval, validation, or revalidation
  • Professional body membership or professional recognition relevant to the discipline
  • Experience of leading curriculum redesign or major programme enhancement activity
