Contract: Permanent - Part Time – 30hrs per week

Shift Pattern: Evenings and Weekends (4-9pm weekdays & 10.00am – 3.00pm Saturdays)

What the Team Does

Support students’ well‑being by offering help with mental health, personal issues, and practical concerns such as housing or finances. Provide guidance, crisis support, and promote a safe, inclusive environment for students to succeed personally and academically.

Job Role

Your work within Student Wellbeing will focus on partnering with students to identify barriers to learning and providing ongoing support. You will help students manage social and emotional issues, enabling them to get the best out of their studies with GBS.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage student referrals in partnership with the Student Welfare Manager, acting as a link between the Welfare Office, academic teams and internal/external services.
  • Provide pastoral support to students experiencing social or emotional issues; ensure students with personal learning plans receive appropriate accommodations.
  • Maximise student attendance by working with student engagement managers.
  • Offer immediate assistance to students on drop‑in and appointment basis.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential welfare records in line with GDPR.
  • Assist in organising health and wellbeing social activities and events.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably health related).
  • Prior experience in a similar role, preferably higher education.
  • Knowledge of DDA, SENDA, JCQ and reasonable adjustments for students with learning differences.
  • Experience working with physical disabilities and learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome.
  • Ability to select and analyse assessment materials, converting raw scores to derived scores, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Competence in discussing students’ needs sensitively and planning appropriate support programmes.
