Lead role: We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What you’ll be doing: As a Lecturer in Computing at Global Banking School, you will deliver modules focused on the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software, and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials to equip students with an understanding of database systems, internet technologies, data, cyber security, networking, and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment, and keep up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met.
- Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
- Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
- Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices.
- Work towards clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression.
About you: You hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable). You have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area. You demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
- Programming and software development
- Web development
- Database systems
- Cloud computing
- Networking
- Cybersecurity
- IoT and emerging technologies
- Business IT systems
- IT management
- AI and Machine Learning
- Operating Systems
- UI/UX
You have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback. You have experience of accurate reporting and maintaining thorough and organised student records. You can work under pressure, plan and prioritise your workload to meet tight deadlines. You have excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills. You can work with diverse groups of people.
Desirable: You hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or you are committed to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete it within three years, or you hold a Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent). You have experience in the design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent.
