GEDON Executive is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a respected, medium-sized consultancy in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional to take a pivotal commercial role, managing the financial success of innovative and complex projects that are shaping the future of the West Midlands.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you\’ll be instrumental in providing expert cost advice and commercial management from inception to completion. You\’ll lead projects, build strong client relationships, and ensure meticulous cost control, contractual precision, and profitable delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Leadership: Take the lead on all cost and commercial aspects of major projects.
- Cost Planning: Develop and manage detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, and whole-life costing.
- Contract Administration: Administer complex contracts, including procurement, tendering, and the diligent valuation and negotiation of variations and claims.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reporting: Prepare accurate and insightful commercial reports, cost value reconciliations, and financial statements for internal and client stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise effectively with clients, design teams, contractors, and project managers, acting as a trusted commercial advisor.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support junior members of the team, contributing to their professional development.
What You\’ll Bring
- Extensive Experience: Proven experience (typically 7+ years) as a Quantity Surveyor within a UK-based construction consultancy.
- Commercial Acumen: Exceptional commercial awareness, strong analytical and numerical skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Contractual Proficiency: Expert knowledge of relevant standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC) and procurement strategies.
- Communication & Negotiation: Superior communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics. Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS) is highly desirable.
