A well-established, award-winning construction and civil engineering organisation with over 25 years of sustained growth across the UK and Ireland is seeking an exceptional Contracts Director to join its senior leadership team in London. This is a genuine future board-level opportunity within a privately owned contractor delivering complex, high-quality projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, hospitality and mixed-use sectors. The role offers significant strategic influence, operational control, and a clearly defined pathway toward future equity participation.
The organisation has a strong reputation for excellence, underpinned by decades of experience delivering new build, refurbishment, fit-out and civil works projects. Operating with a client-centric ethos, it creates sustainable, innovative building solutions tailored to both public and private sector clients. Projects span a broad spectrum of sectors including:
- Residential and mixed-use developments
- Education and learning environments
- Healthcare and community facilities
- Commercial buildings
- Hotels, leisure and hospitality
- Municipal, conservation and civil engineering works
The business combines best-in-class project management, collaborative working practices, and rigorous health, safety and quality standards. It works in close partnership with clients, design teams and supply chain partners to deliver projects that often exceed expectations and foster long-term relationships. With a presence across Greater London, Southern England, and Ireland, it has grown steadily by aligning operational capability with cultural values focused on integrity, teamwork and innovation.
As Contracts Director, you will be a key member of the leadership team, accountable for the performance and delivery excellence across the London and South-East project portfolio. This is a strategic, high-impact role requiring a blend of commercial insight, operational rigour, and team leadership:
- Direct the operational performance of live programmes and multiple project teams
- Own contract strategy, commercial risk management, and value protection
- Lead and develop Project Directors / Managers to deliver best-in-class outcomes
- Champion operational excellence, quality and safety standards
- Oversee forecasting, financial reporting and margin performance
- Shape bid strategy and contribute pre-construction commercial input
- Build and cultivate strategic client and stakeholder relationships
- Identify process improvements and implement scalable delivery frameworks
- Work closely with executive leadership on growth and structural strategy
You will be an accomplished construction leader with a proven track record at a senior delivery level within main contracting:
- Circa 20 years experience in the London market with strong connections and relationships with Architects, Clients, JV Partners and Sub Contractors.
- Proven experience at Contracts Director / Senior Project Director level
- Delivery of projects typically in the £10m–£50m+ range
- Strong commercial and contractual expertise (a thorough understanding of mainstream forms like JCT)
- Excellent leadership capability, driving high performance across teams
- Strategic thinker with an ability to translate vision into delivery
- Confident communicator with credibility at senior client and stakeholder levels
Success in this role will require commercial focus, a delivery-first mindset and a genuine ambition to shape and elevate organisational performance rather than simply operate within it.
This role is ideal for a commercially astute leader who wants ownership, impact and strategic influence:
- Future Board-level leadership responsibility
- Direct influence over operational and commercial strategy
- Working on a diverse and meaningful project portfolio
- Robust organisational support and stable project pipeline
- A pathway towards future equity participation for high performers
- A salary ranging from £150-£200K inclusive of bonuses and STI/LTI's
