An exciting position has become available for a Financial Service Manager and Deputy Section 151 Officer at Gedling Borough Council. One of two posts acting as Deputy S151 reporting directly to the Chief Finance & S151 Officer, this post will undertake the role of key financial advisor on all professional/technical matters relating to a full range of financial services.
The main purpose of the role will be to ensure that services operate efficiently and effectively ensuring strategic support and advice to Corporate Directors and Assistant Directors in the achievement of the Councils Objectives through effective business partnering and sound Corporate Governance arrangements.
This post is a hands-on post responsible for the production of the Councils Statement of Accounts including managing the Collection Fund accounting process. This will be a key post in the exciting run up to Local Government Reorganisation and will suit someone who wishes to gain valuable experience across a wide range of Borough Council specific services and Deputy S151 duties in readiness for the two new unitary authorities that will be created in Nottinghamshire as part of Local Government Reorganisation.
The post is Hybrid with 2-3 days expected in the office depending on Business Requirements. Flexible Working, Local Government Pension, a casual care allowance and a suite of other employee benefits are available with the position.
If you are CCAB qualified, have held a senior finance position in a local authority, have experience of preparing Annual Statements of Accounts and Collection Fund Accounting and are looking to expand your strategic management experience and take that next step to become a Deputy Section 151 Officer then this may be the position for you.
