The Opportunity
We are representing a specialist engineering consultancy delivering integrated MEICA and civil design solutions for water companies across the Thames region. They are seeking a Design Manager to lead and coordinate design delivery across clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is the ideal role for someone who enjoys leading multi discipline teams, shaping design strategy and driving high‑quality, buildable engineering outputs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading and managing design teams across civil, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
- Overseeing design delivery from concept through to detailed design, ensuring outputs meet client standards, regulatory requirements and programme timelines
- Coordinating design reviews, technical approvals and design assurance processes
- Working closely with project managers to plan, resource and prioritise design workloads
- Reviewing drawings, calculations, technical documents and multidisciplinary interfaces
- Supporting the development of design scopes, project estimates and technical documentation
- Engaging directly with clients, suppliers and delivery partners to ensure alignment, clarity and smooth project progression
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers and CAD teams
- Ensuring that safety, buildability and operational considerations are embedded into every design
- Supporting construction and commissioning teams by responding to technical queries and design changes
