A leading Tier-1 contractor delivering specialist projects within the water industry is looking to appoint a Design Manager based in its Midlands office. This role will lead the development of innovative, cost-effective technical solutions. If you have experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams within the water sector (or a similar process-driven engineering environment), this could be the ideal next step in your career.

Duties for Design Manager:

  • Lead and support multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions.
  • Ensure the development of cost-effective design solutions that align with the scope of work and project budgets.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in the design process.
  • Systematically record, monitor, and control design changes to maximise cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support and mentor design managers and engineers, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular design review meetings to monitor progress and address any challenges proactively.

Qualifications/Experience for Design Manager:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in relevant engineering field or equivalent
  • Experience working within water or similar process‑driven environment
  • Chartered Engineer status (desirable)
  • Eligible to work in the UK
