Our client is seeking a Mechanical Site Supervisor to join their construction delivery team on a major water project. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising and coordinating all mechanical site activities — ensuring work is delivered safely, to specification, on time, and to a high standard of quality. This position is ideal for an experienced mechanical professional with a background in pipework, welding, and installation within water or energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Site Manager in maintaining a safe working environment for all site personnel, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure health, safety & environmental documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and appropriately reviewed.
  • Verify that all relevant documents (drawings, method statements, work instructions) accurately describe the tasks being carried out.
  • Supervise mechanical works to ensure they are executed in line with approved RAMS and technical drawings.
  • Review and provide input on Method Statements and Work Instructions in line with the project execution requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work progress, including red-line drawings and site diaries where required.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and improvement opportunities; follow up on agreed corrective actions.
  • Ensure a high-quality mechanical installation, with ITPs completed progressively as works are delivered.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience supervising mechanical installations in the water, energy, or heavy infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of pipework fabrication, welding, pressure testing, and mechanical assembly.
  • Able to interpret and work to Isometric, GA, and P&ID drawings.
  • Confident in identifying quality issues in welds, valves, and mechanical components.

Qualifications:

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience through a trade apprenticeship (pipefitting/welding).
  • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • CSCS card (relevant to mechanical site supervision).
  • First Aid at Work qualification (preferred but not essential).
