GRS are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor within the Water Industry to cover projects across Scottish Water. Reporting to the M&E Manager / Lead Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all mechanical activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required technical standards. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical installations throughout all stages of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise mechanical installations across site, including pipework, pumping systems, valves, and associated equipment.
- Ensure all SHE standards are consistently maintained and safe systems of work are followed at all times.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship in line with current regulations, drawings, and project specifications.
- Oversee installation, inspection, and verification of mechanical systems to ensure compliance with required standards.
- Monitor supply chain performance and progress against programme.
- Review and maintain supplier inspection and test plans (ITPs), ensuring they remain accurate and relevant.
- Attend and lead site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Support mechanical commissioning and pre-commissioning activities as required.
- Take an active role in collaborative planning meetings to help develop and maintain delivery programmes.
- Carry out regular inspections of temporary and permanent mechanical works and equipment.
- Hold one-to-one meetings with supply chain supervisors and ensure Take 5 assessments are completed.
- Assist with the compilation of project handover and O&M documentation.
- Ensure mechanical testing is carried out in accordance with project specifications and manufacturers’ requirements.
- Issue and manage permits relevant to mechanical works where required.
- Maintain a daily site diary, recording activities, progress, and any issues.
About You – Required Qualifications & Experience
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- Mechanical Supervisor experience within the Water or Utilities sector
- First Aid at Work (FAAW)
- CSCS Card (Supervisor or above)
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Experience supervising mechanical installations on water or wastewater treatment projects
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe systems of work
- Experience with mechanical testing, commissioning, and handover processes
