We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Electrical Project Engineer to support the delivery of electrical works within our water sector projects. This role is ideal for someone from a hands-on electrical installation background who is looking to transition into project engineering. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer and gain experience in the planning, coordination, and delivery of electrical elements of clean and/or wastewater treatment schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical installation works on water and wastewater projects.
  • Support the Senior Project Engineer in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
  • Help monitor site progress, ensuring all works comply with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Attend site meetings, record actions, and follow up on project deliverables.
  • Provide input into commissioning and handover documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of RAMS and permit-to-work documentation.
  • Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with project schedules and budgets.

Candidate Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working on electrical installations – ideally within the water industry or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Understanding of electrical systems including LV distribution, control panels, motors, instrumentation, and cabling.
  • Willingness to learn and develop into a project engineering role.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • ECS/CSCS card and relevant site qualifications desirable (e.g., SSSTS, EUSR Water Hygiene).
  • Full UK driving licence.
