If so, we are looking for a proactive, hands-on Safety, Training & Compliance Manager to lead Health & Safety, training, and compliance across Gear4music's logistics and distribution operations. You'll work closely with leaders and teams across the business to build and embed a positive, practical safety culture that supports how we work every day.

What you'll be doing: In this predominantly logistics-focused role, you'll take ownership of Health & Safety, training, and compliance across our warehouse and distribution sites, ensuring standards are clearly defined, consistently applied, and continuously improved.
- Leading day-to-day Health & Safety activities across warehouse operations, including inspections, audits, and site walks.
- Producing, maintaining, and enforcing all warehouse Health & Safety and training documentation, including SOPs, safe systems of work, guides, and training materials.
- Reviewing and updating risk assessments in line with operational changes.
- Investigating incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes, and driving corrective and preventative actions.
- Designing, delivering, and coordinating warehouse inductions, refresher training, and toolbox talks.
- Managing training matrices, certifications, and competency sign-off.
- Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including HSWA, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, RIDDOR, and Fire Safety.
- Supporting internal and external audits, contractor compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coaching and advising managers, partnering closely with Operations, HR, and Facilities to embed safe working practices.
This role will see you work across our three sites, supporting teams at Holgate and Clifton Moor in York, as well as our new distribution centre in Sherburn in Elmet.
Your skills and experience: what we're looking for:
- 3-5 years experience in a Health & Safety / Compliance role, ideally within a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Proven experience producing and delivering Health & Safety training and managing compliance systems.
- Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge at all levels.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Diploma strongly desirable).
- IOSH Managing Safely Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET) (formerly PTLLS).
- Train the Trainer certification.
- First Aid, Fire Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, DSE, or ISO 45001 experience.
Nice to have:
- CMIOSH / GradIOSH / TechIOSH or IIRSM membership.
- CIPD Level 3 or 5 Learning & Development Practitioner qualification.
