Who Are We?
Gear4music is a leading UK & European musical retailer. Since launching in 2003, our mission has been to make music accessible for all. We now offer over 67,000 products, serve customers in 190 countries, and operate in 15 languages and 9 currencies. In 2022, we also launched AV.com – retailing HiFi, Home Cinema, and accessories. Behind the scenes, we’re powered by a growing technical team who make all of this possible. We recently turned over £190m and continue to grow, evolve, and innovate.
Who Are You?
You’re a sharp, thoughtful, and organised Project Manager with a passion for technology and delivering the right products. You’re skilled at bringing structure to complex initiatives, aligning stakeholders, and keeping projects moving at pace. You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and enjoy turning business needs into well-managed delivery outcomes. You’re a confident communicator who can bring together technical and non-technical minds to prioritise value and drive tangible change.
Your Mission
Sitting within the Tech Team’s product management function, you’ll play a key role in delivering technical and operational change initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. Your job is to act as the bridge between technical teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors, helping us shape, coordinate, and deliver solutions that drive real results. You will:
- Work with stakeholders and technical teams to refine, clarify, and influence business requirements that support successful delivery outcomes.
- Ensure business needs are translated into clear, actionable plans and deliverables for technical teams.
- Work with technical SMEs to understand our current technical set up, and find the optimal path forwards in terms of value vs. effort.
- Support the definition of improved processes, AI technologies and delivery approaches that increase efficiency and reduce operational friction.
- Lead project delivery using Agile practices – contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and stakeholder demos.
- Drive test planning and UAT, ensuring business goals are met before solutions go live.
- Proactively communicate project progress, blockers, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
- Launch projects with confidence, upskilling teams in how they can adopt our latest products.
- Act as a champion for continuous improvement, by proposing ideas for the future product roadmap.
The Technical Bits
We don’t expect you to code – but you’ll need to be technically fluent enough to hold your own in discussions with developers, product teams, and vendors. Here’s the sort of experience we’re looking for:
- Demonstrable experience as a Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Business Analyst, or similar role (5+ years).
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), operational systems, or logistics platforms.
- Experience using project delivery and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Lucidchart).
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and experience delivering work using Agile methodologies.
- Comfortable working with technical documentation, workflows, and data models.
- Experience with WMS platforms, Logistics technology, or e-commerce back-office functions is highly desirable.
Bonus points for:
- Experience in systems/process transformation in a logistics, warehouse or retail operations environment.
- Experience of working with 3rd party hardware or integration vendors.
Don’t worry if you don’t tick every box – if this sounds like the kind of role you’d love, we want to hear from you.
