What if your engineering talent shaped technology, improved lives, and opened opportunities across the globe? At GÉANT, we build and maintain the digital backbone of Europe’s research and education. Our Software engineering team develops the systems that keep the world’s largest R&E network running smoothly, securely, and at scale. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping the platforms that support GÉANT’s internal operations. You will be the technical owner of our Ivanti Neurons ITSM platform, a system relied upon by teams across the organisation. Your work will help ensure that critical internal processes run smoothly, supporting colleagues who, in turn, support the global research and education community.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role:
- Lead the configuration, maintenance, and evolution of the Ivanti Neurons ITSM environment, ensuring it remains stable, well‑designed, and aligned with user needs across GÉANT.
- Manage Staging → Test → Production deployments through reliable, documented, reproducible processes.
- Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Software Developers, Product Owners, and internal teams to understand business requirements and translate them into Neurons workflows, forms, SLAs, notifications, and integrations.
- Provide guidance to teams integrating other systems with Neurons APIs, and advise on scripting using Ivanti Expressions or ECMAScript.
- Deliver Level 3 support for the Neurons platform, troubleshooting complex issues and driving improvements to availability, performance, and quality.
- Train ITS support engineers on day‑to‑day configuration tasks, contributing to shared understanding and long‑term maintainability.
- When capacity allows, contribute to broader internal tooling work—primarily in Python—to support and extend GÉANT’s software ecosystem.
About You
With your background in Ivanti Neurons, platform configuration, and software engineering, you’ll bring strong technical ownership and a desire to ensure high‑quality, reliable internal systems. Curious, collaborative, and structured, you’re ready to take responsibility for a critical organisational platform while also integrating into a supportive engineering team that values knowledge‑sharing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Key strengths:
- Experience configuring, deploying, and maintaining the Ivanti Neurons ITSM Platform, ideally including multi‑stage environments and performance optimisation.
- Ability to script special cases using Ivanti Expressions and ECMAScript, and familiarity with API‑driven integrations.
- Foundational understanding of Python development, ideally with exposure to packaging tools (pip, setuptools, tox) and CI/CD practices.
- Knowledge of web‑based front‑end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React) and how they interact with backend services.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Comfort working with Linux environments, version control systems, and standard engineering tooling.
- A willingness to explore areas such as federated SSO (SAML 2.0 / OIDC), containerisation (Docker), or additional internal systems as part of your growth.
