Up to 24 hours a week - 6 Month Contract

Our Trust & Identity team delivers advanced IAM/AAI services to critical initiatives like European open Science Cloud, EuroHPC systems, and Erasmus. You’ll play a key role as an Intern in Data Science. From assisting in the requirement gathering phase for the FAIRification project to benchmarking different repository platforms (Zenodo, InvenioRDM, Dataverse, HuggingFace, etc.). Your work will support the technical development of the FAIR Data portal proof-of-concept and you will help with data preparation: cleaning, organising, and structuring datasets.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role:
- Apply metadata standards and FAIR principles to improve dataset quality and usability.
- Realise the benchmarking of different repository platforms (Zenodo, InvenioRDM, Dataverse, HuggingFace, etc.).
- Document processes, findings, and lessons learned for internal reporting.
- Support platform configuration and deployment, including development of bridges to connect organisational systems to the portal, enabling automated data input from production tools.
- Collaborate with project team members, GÉANT staff, and national Research and Education Networks around Europe.
About You
Your knowledge in Data science will help you thrive in computer science, and you build reliable information systems. We are looking for someone who is currently studying or recently graduated in computer science, data science, information systems, digital libraries, or related fields.
Key Strength:
- Interest in Open science, research data management, or FAIR principles.
- Familiar with data cleaning and preparation tools (e.g. Python, R, OpenRefine, Excel) is a plus.
- Understand metadata standards, database, or repository systems desirable.
- Familiarity with platform configuration and deployment, and ideally some experience with building connectors/APIs to integrate systems.
- Good analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proactive, curious, and willing to learn in a collaborative international environment.
Working arrangements
Given the responsibilities of this role, we expect the individual to be in the office 3 days/week.
