As HR Manager, you will be a key HR partner across both the UK and Netherlands providing strategic guidance to business leaders while focusing on HR systems adoption, operational efficiency, and employee relations.

You’ll be responsible for driving key HR initiatives, advising on policies and legal matters, and ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions like benefits, and sickness management. Working in close collaboration with the international HR team, your role will be central to fostering a culture of growth and continuous improvement.

Here’s what you can expect in this role:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and business partner, guiding leadership and employees on HR policies, legal matters, and employee relations.
  • Lead the adoption and integration of HR systems, collaborating across the business to ensure successful implementation and ongoing optimisation.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations issues, conducting sensitive conversations, and managing cases to resolution.
  • Mentor and coach managers, supporting them in people management, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with HR operations, including benefits, sickness, and employee lifecycle management, in line with legal and company standards.
  • Lead change management initiatives for HR systems and processes, bringing people together, building engagement, and ensuring smooth transitions.
  • Manage and develop junior direct reports, providing support in their day-to-day responsibilities and helping them grow professionally.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues, sharing best practices, ensuring alignment on policies, and fostering consistency across regions.

About You

What You’ll Bring

You’re a proactive HR professional with a strong balance of strategic insight, operational expertise, and a focus on systems adoption. You are an advisor, coach, and mentor to both business leaders and junior talent, and you have a proven ability to manage and optimise HR systems while ensuring smooth, compliant operations.

Key Skills and Qualities:

  • Proven experience as a HR business partner, advising leadership on employee relations, policies and legal matters.
  • Deep understanding of UK employment law and international HR policies, with the ability to implement and ensure compliance.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to people management, coaching, and mentoring both managers and junior talent.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across regions and departments.
  • Strong change management skills, particularly in driving the successful adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to bring teams together and drive collaboration across functions and regions.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in managing operational HR functions such as benefits, sickness, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Expertise in HR systems implementation, adoption, and optimisation, with a focus on driving change and collaboration across teams.
  • Experience managing or leading a team in an HR capacity, with a focus on developing junior talent.

Working Arrangements

GÉANT supports hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum of two days per week in the Cambridge office and occasional travel within Europe.
