We are looking for a Process / Projects Engineer to join our Process Engineering team. This role acts as a key link between sales, project delivery teams, clients, and suppliers. You will be involved from the initial concept design stage through to project execution, commissioning and process performance testing on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Concept & Proposal Development
- Review customer enquiries and develop suitable process solutions.
- Produce conceptual process designs, equipment selections, and cost/time estimates.
- Prepare technical proposals and support the sales team in client discussions.
- Design & Engineering
- Develop front-end process designs including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment lists, and datasheets.
- Perform batch, recipe, and product analysis to verify operability.
- Size equipment such as vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, pipework, and control valves.
- Prepare process descriptions and operational philosophies.
- Ensure process safety, constructability, and compliance with standards.
- Project Execution
- Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams during detailed design and installation.
- Review supplier information and technically evaluate quotations.
- Manage and document design changes and updates.
- Commissioning & Process Validation
- Attend site to verify installation, run commissioning and process trials.
- Confirm the system meets performance targets for capacity, functionality, safety, and operability.
- Provide troubleshooting support and resolve technical issues as needed.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance designs, process efficiency, and product performance.
- Contribute to innovation and new product applications.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or related process engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Strong technical understanding of process systems and equipment.
- Ability to develop process design documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, control philosophy).
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communicator with ability to collaborate across teams and work directly with clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Disciplined approach to document control and information management.
Desirable
- Experience in plant design, commissioning, or manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of hygiene, safety, and regulatory requirements in process industries.
- Familiarity with process modelling or simulation tools.
- Previous experience working with suppliers and external contractors.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
- Ability to work flexibly, sometimes including periods on customer sites.
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from our Warrington office.
