The Mechanical Field Service Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality field service activities at customer sites across the Dairy, Food, Beverage, Chemical, and Pharmaceutical industries, alongside supporting service planning and administration from the Warrington office. The role combines hands-on mechanical service execution with professional customer interaction, accurate service reporting, proactive planning support, and contribution to lead generation for additional and new service works. The position supports both office-based and field-based activities, with travel to customer sites anywhere in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:- Field & Office-Based Working
- Undertake field-based service works at customer sites across the UK.
- Carry out office-based activities from the Warrington office including service preparation, reporting, technical follow-ups, and planning support.
- Maintain flexibility to travel and work away from the office as service demand requires.
- Field Service Execution
- Preventive maintenance, inspections, corrective repairs, fault finding, overhauls and refurbishments.
- Installation and commissioning support where required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, in compliance with GEA standards and customer site requirements.
- Customer Support & Communication
- Act as a professional GEA representative at all times.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding work scope, findings, and recommendations.
- Service Reporting & Documentation
- Complete accurate and timely service reports detailing work carried out.
- Identify and document follow-up actions and improvement recommendations.
- Planning & Collaboration
- Support service planning through clear feedback on job scope, duration and technical findings.
- Work closely with Service Sales, Spare Parts, Engineering and Technical Support teams.
- Lead Generation & Upselling
- Identify and report opportunities for additional service work, upgrades, and maintenance contracts.
- Support service sales growth through technical insight and customer engagement.
- Health, Safety & Quality
- Adhere to all GEA Health & Safety policies and customer site procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with quality standards.
- Essential
- Mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in a mechanical field service or maintenance role.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- High standard of written communication for professional reporting.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel UK-wide.
- Desirable
- Experience within Dairy, Food, Beverage, Chemical or Pharmaceutical industries.
- Knowledge of GEA or similar process equipment.
- GMP or hygienic design experience.
- Customer-focused, professional and safety-conscious.
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Commercially aware with a continuous improvement mindset.
