GEA Group Ltd operates within the industrial sector of the refrigeration industry, specialising in heavy commercial refrigeration plant systems. This role would ideally suit an engineer with experience in industrial refrigeration. We would also consider experienced engineers from the retail or supermarket sector who are looking to develop their career in large‑scale industrial refrigeration. This is a field‑based role within a growing team of Service Engineers, offering strong technical exposure and career progression opportunities.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Report directly to the Service Manager.
- Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
- Service and maintain heavy commercial refrigeration equipment and plant, including chilled water systems.
- Work on a small amount of air‑conditioning equipment.
- Maintain a strong customer‑focused approach throughout all processes, ensuring customer expectations are consistently met.
- Primarily maintenance‑based, while responding to reactive service calls when required.
- Support the Service Manager in resolving technical issues and reducing repetitive service calls in a timely manner.
- Promote system improvements and modifications to customers to enhance operational performance.
- Provide technical support to apprentices and customers.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety & Quality regulations and policies.
- Attend site visits to troubleshoot, rectify faults, and educate customers where necessary.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Represent GEA Group professionally while on site.
- Support capacity planning and work scheduling processes.
- Maintain company technical and safety standards in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Recommend improvements where necessary and report accidents and near misses.
- Provide technical support and coaching to team apprentices.
- Remain up to date with safety standards and safety equipment requirements.
- Champion and promote a strong safety culture in the workplace.
Profile and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a service environment.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Honest and trustworthy.
- IPAF certified.
- City & Guilds 2079 – F‑Gas Category 1.
- City & Guilds 2078 – Ammonia Safe Handling.
- CO₂ and Hydrocarbon qualifications – beneficial.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, building plans, and instructions.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair refrigeration systems.
- Competent in basic electrical work.
- Skilled in brazing techniques.
- Ability to fabricate and assemble components using hand and power tools.
- Experience installing a wide range of refrigeration components.
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
