Our apprentices follow a three to four year training programme, with full time college attendance at year one, followed by day release college attendance.
The Modern Apprentice will function under the overall guidance of the Apprentice Officer but also on a day to day basis under the control of the Team Leader / Supervisor in charge of the department where the Apprentices’ current training is taking place.
For the duration of the Apprenticeship, you will gain practical experience, develop theoretical knowledge, whilst obtaining formal qualifications, which are recognised and fully transferrable within the wind industry.
You will perform multiple aspects of maintenance and repair to the highest quality. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to accurately follow work process instructions. You will have a keen sense of achievement and take pride in the work you undertake and produce. The ability to work efficiently within a team is essential.
You will
- Adhere to GE health & safety policy and safe working practices.
- Be happy working at heights and in remote challenging environments.
- Be highly self-motivated, be able to work in a small team and independently.
- Have good problem-solving abilities, able to think on your feet.
- Have basic PC knowledge of networking and communication.
- Be working to targets and deadlines.
- Be undertaking your qualification mostly on windfarms
- Be working with your team in the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects.
- National 5 Grades (or Equivalent) in English, Maths and a Science subject, or equivalent knowledge or experience
- Able to work at heights
- Team player, cooperative, interested in further personal and career development
- Confident personality
- High degree of flexibility, highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure
- Prepared to travel throughout the UK.
- A full UK driving license is essential.
- Performing Engineering Operations (POE) is advantageous but not essential
