The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.
(MPTF) in Whetstone (Leicester). This state-of-the-art facility is a dedicated, full power, land-based test facility and plays a crucial role in de-risking present and future power and propulsion technologies, systems and from product development and verification through to complete, full-scale integrated power and propulsion including new \’clean ship\’ technologies. The MPTF is the only commercial land-based facility in the world that is capable of full-scale testing of complete integrated naval power and propulsion systems from ship fit prime movers through to propulsion at up to 20MW. It plays a crucial role in de-risking present and future platforms, energy and propulsion technologies, micro grids and associated systems and solutions. At MPTF, you will use and develop your key skills, knowledge and practical experience to design and specify test platforms and systems, create test scenarios, manage test operations, and analyse resultant test data thereby contributing to the delivery of class leading Power System solutions to validate safe, efficient and operational performance-led solutions.
Responsibilities
- Undertake installation, commissioning, test, fault finding, repair and upkeep of electro-mechanical systems, LV through to HV.
- Undertake design and build of small custom test panels/ equipment as dictated by the test requirements. Carry-out electrical panel wiring modifications as necessary.
- Monitor, and implement change control to system, equipment, and documentation.
- Perform periodic preventative maintenance on installed equipment in accordance with OEM guidelines.
- Supervise and manage subcontractors and/ or suppliers.
- Prepare & Ensure plant is correctly configured and available for testing in line with standard operating procedures.
- Participate in plant control room operations and data acquisition.
- Identify and propose improvements in processes, tools, and system solutions, rolling out improvements when agreed with leadership team.
- Maintain and promote the highest standards of Health and Safety.
- Has applicable, transferrable equipment or systems level knowledge & experience gained in an industrial and/ or marine environment.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a small multi-disciplinary team.
- Can work initiatively on challenges, problem solving, ambitious, highly motivated and driven to succeed with a lean mindset.
- Aspires to learn and develop new skills and competencies.
- Embraces a pro-active approach to health and safety at work, contributing to risk assessment and safe working practices.
- Ideally has working knowledge of BS7671 and marine classification society, IEC, MIL or DEF standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of an OND / HND or equivalent in electrical engineering or related subject.
- Diverse experience of working with LV switchboards, transformers, variable speed drives, Diesel generators, automation systems and industrial plant.
- A record of training in EHS, First Aid and business compliance. Previous certification in electrical competence and Authorised Person status would be advantageous.
- Existing or the ability to obtain the higher levels of UK Security Clearance including \”SC Clearance\” and \”UK Eyes Only Clearance\” are required for this role.
