Job Summary

Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well‑defined operations framework. Generally a step‑by‑step sequence of standard operational tasks is followed to achieve an end result.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical leader/manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects.
  • Supports bid strategy to deliver the tender in an efficient manner, maximise customer satisfaction and increase probability of success.
  • Provides technical leadership and interfaces with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub‑contractors.
  • Develops conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.
  • Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.
  • Resolves issues using established procedures. Consults supervisor or more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Collaborates with others to solve issues. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Exchanges technical information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Mechanical Engineering or proven experience of equivalent level.
  • Several years of experience in tendering/project manager in the power industry, or proven experience working with projects in power grid, switchgear and power transformers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under very time‑constrained activities and good communications skills.
  • Availability to travel a few times a year mainly within the UK for site visit and/or client visits.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
