Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users' needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. This process proceeds from concept to production to operation, impacting approaches, projects, and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. It impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team, with significant input into priorities, guided by professional practices and policies shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts component and product integration, spanning multiple components and products for maximum performance and operability.
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
  • Responsible for defining product requirements for the module/component/subcontractors and partners teams.
  • Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
  • Responsible for driving CTQ/Risk trades within the teams designing the components.
  • Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
  • Develops specialized knowledge in their discipline and serves as a best practice/quality resource.
  • Contributes towards strategy and policy development, ensuring delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Takes new perspectives on existing solutions and uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus.
  • Develops persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within the field.

Required Qualifications:

  • For roles outside of the USA: Significant experience in Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering, knowledge level comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in the USA: Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
