We work with some of the world's major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.

As the Operational Technology Cyber Security Consultant, you will translate customer cyber security requirements into robust system solutions that can be implemented on existing plant-based GE equipment. This includes critical industrial infrastructure, such as Power Plants, Wind Farms, Mining & Metals, Offshore, Oil & Gas and Railway. You will play a leading role in the full project lifecycle, from offer preparation to commissioning on-site. Your key area of focus will be OT (HMIs, PLCs, networking) and system-related infrastructure, i.e. associated engineering stations, data acquisition systems and remote access solutions.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Proposing OT cyber security system upgrades and presenting them to our customers.
  • Supporting our projects regarding cybersecurity from the offer phase to implementation at the customer.
  • Assessing requirements in critical infrastructure, as well as development of measures to meet these requirements.
  • Advising on the design/adaptation of system architecture according to customer specifications.
  • Defining the configuration of various devices (PC, switch, firewall, but also HMIs, PLCs and monitoring stations).
  • Coordinating and advising on site acceptance test activities.
  • Planning, conducting, and participating in cybersecurity meetings with customers and suppliers.
  • Coordinating with colleagues in the UK, France, Germany, USA and India with regards to general procedures and guidelines for cybersecurity in industrial facilities.

20% of work time may consist of domestic and occasional international travel to technical meetings, site visits and customer visits; both independently and as a member of a wider team.

Essential requirements:

  • Academic degree in Cyber Security, Controls & Automation, or Industrial Control Systems (or related field), OR equivalent knowledge gained in a professional engineering environment.
  • Previous experience of designing and integrating control & automation project solutions (HMI, PLC, ICS, SCADA).
  • Sound knowledge of Industrial communication protocols, e.g. Modbus RTU, TCP/IP, OPC-UA, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, etc.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking.
  • Very good knowledge of cybersecurity standards and industrial OT, particularly IEC 62443.
  • Ability to configure a hardened MS Windows environment, computer networks and PLC environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an emphasis on customer service.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate.
  • Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certificate.
  • Previous experience working with cybersecurity in the power industry.

This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.

You can expect from us:

  • Challenging and exciting world‑first projects.
  • Flexible work arrangements.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs. Some core benefits include: 10% Employer Pension Contribution (not subject to individual contribution), Income protection, Private Health Insurance and Life Assurance.
  • 26 days vacation + bank holidays.
