Job Description Summary

At GE Vernova’s Power Conversion UK Ltd, we have a steeped heritage in the design and manufacture of complex electrical motors and generators serving customers around the globe in sectors such as Marine, Oil & Gas, Naval, and Industry.

Security Requirement: Due to the confidential nature of the projects, you must be a sole UK National and be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC level).

This is an early‑career opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Naval business unit. Reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Leader, you will be developed to manage the full "wing‑to‑wing" Sourcing process for assigned commodities and projects, supporting both Direct and Indirect (Tooling, systems) sourcing requirements.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Support: Assist in formulating ‘Commodity Strategies’ by analyzing historical data and future project demand.
  • Execution: Support the local sourcing strategy in line with Global guidance to drive supplier initiatives and consolidation.
  • Financial Impact: Execute purchase activities with a focus on meeting deflation (savings), cash flow, and preferred supplier targets.
  • Cost Analysis: Develop skills in cost breakdown analysis to negotiate the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Contracting: Gain exposure to legal terms and support Contract Negotiations alongside the Legal teams.
  • Risk Management: Assist in identifying and mitigating risks within the assigned supply base.
  • New Business: Support the bidding team with RFQs to ensure competitive pricing and lead times for new project wins.
  • Supplier Onboarding: Work with the Quality team to identify, select, and audit new suppliers.
  • Performance Tracking: Undertake continuous reviews of supplier performance (Quality, Cost, Delivery) using Supplier Scorecards.
  • Business Reviews: Participate in Supplier Business Reviews to help build strategic relationships.
  • Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to GE’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Education: A degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and equivalent apprentice program is preferred. An individual looking to transition into a commercial role from a technical or administrative background.
  • Professional Development: A willingness to study for CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualifications, which the business will support.
  • Technical Interest: A genuine interest in how things are made and a desire to work within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Security Requirement: You must be a sole UK National and be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC level).
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively across functional teams.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel nationally & internationally as required.
