About the role

GE Vernova's Grid Automation team delivers grid modernisation projects for some of the UK's most critical infrastructure, including National Grid substations and renewable energy sites. As Site Manager, you will be the central point of coordination on site — ensuring every phase of project delivery runs safely, compliantly, and to schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the project team, customers, subcontractors, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Manage site activities from mobilisation through to close-out, including permit management and workforce coordination.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit site documentation including Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), site reports, and drawings.
  • Monitor health, safety, and CDM compliance across all site activities.
  • Track progress against the project plan, flag risks, and escalate potential pitfalls to the project manager.
  • Ensure all completed works are accurately recorded and signed off ahead of project closure.
  • Occasional travel to offshore or overseas sites, including within the Nordics, may be required depending on project demand.

Essential Requirements:

  • National Grid Competent Person status.
  • Proven experience in site management within the transmission and distribution or substation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and site compliance standards.
  • Ability to manage site documentation accurately and submit reports in line with contractual and project requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical installation activities.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • SR163/TP137 qualification.
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations.
  • Experience on National Grid or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (degree, HND, or equivalent).

What we offer:

  • Challenging and exciting world-class projects.
  • Competitive, market-aligned salary + an annual performance-based bonus plan.
  • 26 days vacation + bank holidays.
  • Company car, laptop, and phone.
  • Overtime and site-work premiums.
  • Structured onboarding with support from experienced managers.
  • Career growth opportunities.
  • Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs.

Some core benefits are: Employer pension contribution (not subject to individual contribution), Income protection, Private Health Insurance and Life Assurance. A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs, careers and work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.
