NTI Senior Engineer (m/f/d) activities aimed at proving a New Technology concept to be valid or technically feasible via the application of conceptual knowledge, scientific and engineering methodologies. The main objectives being the demonstration of the new technology through test or analyses of the performance against known industry standards and the implementation potential of the new technology into existing or new GEV products. NTI Senior Engineer impacts the approaches, projects and programs related to the introduction of a new product into the HVDC business. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Works individually and as part of a team on new technology development projects
- Cooperates closely with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team
- Supports the development of the skills of the team to meet in alignment with the NTI roadmap.
- Delivers the NPI/NTI project within the time, cost and scope
- Implements and perfects processes and tools to comply with the quality process for NTI projects.
- Builds and maintains relationships with universities
- Maintains and creates connections with internal and external partners.
- Keeps up to date with the current trends in the industrial standards applicable to HVDC products and new related technologies.
- Keeps up to date with the trends in the market, customer feedback, academia etc.
- Creates a cost and customer mindset in the team
- Identifies IP and contributes to the IP internal quality process
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in all industrial power system design and analysis software, e.g. MatLab/Simulink, PSCAD, DigSILENT.
- Proven experience in different methods of verification and validation of control and protection technologies to prove compliance with requirements.
- Proven record of design and validation of control and protection technologies applicable to HVDC.
- Proven record of understanding the existing control and protection systems in power transmission.
- Excellent understanding of current industrial standards applicable to HVDC products.
- PhD in power systems or control engineering
- Creative mind, able to think outside the box
- Documented problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across different levels/disciplines
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
- Strong can-do attitude and energy level
- Familiarity with GE processes and metrics
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, NPI, commercial etc.
