The Project Engineering Management Function Leader supervises and coordinates the Project Engineering Management Team (PEMs) to undertake their role and lead the Engineering on their assigned projects. Assists the PEMs at project launching phase, controls engineering process follow up, ensures the proper management of interfaces with our partners and main suppliers. Be accountable for the proper allocation of resources required to execute the projects, looks for design subcontractors to adapt resources to the workload plan and optimize design budget. Handles specific actions, organizes know-how capitalization and RoE to improve global engineering efficiency for relevant activities. The Project Engineering Management Function Leader is accountable for the proper compliance to the ‘state of the art’ and applicable standard and regulation in his field of activity, and is considered as technical referent for the teams. As manager, the Head of group is in charge of conducting annual reviews of the teams.

Key missions include:

  • Project management: Scope of work, time schedule, consulted on design task list at project launch, review of general time schedule and assignment of resources to start engineering.
  • Resources: Accountable for design budget on ongoing projects, allocates design resources monthly, manages design workload plan.
  • Team management: Leads and coordinates design teams, animates regular internal team meetings, holds performance development meetings, performs skills mapping.
  • Engineering process control: Ensures consistency of process and tools, detects malfunctions during engineering phases, ensures planning and realization on time of design reviews.
  • Project strategy & risk management: Supports PEM in design strategy definition, manages scope or design changes, identifies and consolidates technical risks & opportunities.
  • Customer knowledge: Consulted to understand customer requirements and check proposed solutions.
  • Document & configuration management: Ensures traceability from customer requirements to equipment specifications.
  • Design expediting: Consults on basic design phase, ensures technical consistency of design area.
  • Process & Tools: Deploys GRID Engineering tools, integrates EHS requirements in engineering process.
  • Interface with Procurement: Supports sourcing and procurement in supplier definition, consulted for technical evaluation of offers.
  • Return of Experience & Knowledge Capitalisation: Accountable for site/design return of experience & design validation.
  • Quality: Complies with quality procedures and resolves non-conformances.
  • Health and Safety: Deploys design freeze and EHS in design, demonstrates EHS leadership.
  • Performance Measurement: Updates discipline schedule, formalizes design reviews, follows design management tools.

Desired Profile and Experience:

  • Significant experience in Engineering activities in EPC type environment in T&D, Power Gen or Oil & Gas industry.
  • Mastering of involved discipline (process, tools, technical aspects).
  • Successful experience in project technical management in a multi-disciplinary context.
  • Fluent in English with strong influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Experience in technical problem solving and knowledge of GRID factories and products.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to communicate complex messages.
