What you will do

  • You lead the technical direction of control and protection products designed for multi-terminal high-voltage direct current systems.
  • You will develop a strong understanding of multi-terminal HVDC applications and the control and protection needs that support them.
  • Translate application needs into clear product requirements, architectures, concept designs, and technical specifications.
  • Shape modular control and protection solutions that can support a range of applications in both single-supplier and multi-supplier environments.
  • Lead the development of product features across converter station control and protection, switching station control and protection, and coordinated grid control.
  • Define and guide modelling and simulation activities that build application knowledge and support product development.
  • Contribute directly to technical design work while also mentoring and coordinating others across development teams.
  • Create detailed design inputs and test specifications that support robust and reliable product delivery.
  • Work closely with product, portfolio, and technical leadership to align product development with wider strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering and development teams to turn product vision into practical, high-value solutions.

What you bring

  • You bring deep technical knowledge in power systems and control and protection, along with the ability to turn complex application needs into structured, high-quality product development.
  • You are likely to have strong experience in power systems study, design, or application engineering.
  • Experience working with voltage-source converter HVDC technology and related control and protection systems.
  • The ability to define functional requirements, technical architecture, and detailed design for complex engineered products.
  • Experience using modelling, simulation, or analytical methods to support product and system development.
  • A structured and thoughtful approach to technical problem-solving.
  • The confidence to lead technically, influence others, and support colleagues as a mentor or coordinator.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work across specialist and cross-functional teams.
  • It would also be helpful if you have some exposure to software development or operational software environments, though this is not essential.
