We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of our HVDC Control & Protection System within the New Product Introduction (NPI) organization of the HVDC Solution Line. Based in Stafford, you will drive the end-to-end execution of this strategic program, from requirements definition through design, validation, and industrialization, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
You will work within the global NPI team and collaborate closely with engineering, product management, procurement, and projects. Reporting to the HVDC NPI Executive Leader, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the state-of-the-art Control & Protection System for both LCC and VSC converter stations. The eLumina Program is key to our portfolio of projects: TenneT, EGL1, and EP.
To optimize both NPI and project execution, the eLumina product validation strategy is a blend of NPI and Project Teams, as well as the simultaneous use of hardware platforms. Stakes of this program are high, with a FAT of the LCC version of eLumina for the EP project and the VSC version of eLumina for TenneT and EGL1.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and validation with the eLumina leaders of the overall roadmap for LCC and VSC to be updated and endorsed by the BOD on a quarterly basis.
- Responsible for the delivery of the roadmap as endorsed by the BOD.
- Responsible for the budget associated with the eLumina projects.
- Be the interface point with the Product Owners/Solution owners for the preparation of the roadmap.
- Propose changes and improvements based on lessons learnt and return of experience to the Product Owners/Solution Owners.
- Propose and align the integration of the eLumina C&P system within Reference Solutions.
- Communicate/inform the OTR teams of the progress and risks associated with the roadmap deliveries with the support of eLumina project managers.
- Define objectives of the eLumina leaders relative to eLumina in coordination with the NPI Executive Leader.
- Communicate to GSI employees associated with NPI eLumina project activities.
- Review workload and resourcing aspects of the eLumina projects with the eLumina project managers and leaders.
- Manage the interface between various eLumina projects ensuring deliverables are integrated, consistent, and aligned with project milestones.
- Maintain an integrated organisation chart of the NPI eLumina, proposing necessary changes and adaptations to the NPI Executive Manager.
- Serve as the technical bridge between internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and end-users.
- Review and validate the BOD-PI presentation to be endorsed by the BOD.
- Lead the monthly eLumina project reviews.
- Participate in the presentation of the MGPP yearly exercise.
- Responsible for the NPI eLumina activities' compliance with GSI NPI processes and GSI safety and cyber security principles and procedures.
- Drive AI adoption for eLumina activities to maximize potential benefits.
Desired Profile and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering; Master’s or PhD with a focus on power systems or power electronics highly preferred.
- Extensive HVDC experience, with sound knowledge of HVDC control systems.
- Experience leading and motivating large, cross-functional teams, including setting a clear vision, delegating effectively, and holding teams accountable for results.
- Proven track record of leading and successfully delivering NPI programs.
- Proficient in applying Agile principles to drive product development and accelerate time-to-market.
- Proven experience as a Program Director, Project Director, or Project Engineering Director in NPI or EPC environments.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical challenges.
- Strong program management skills, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of Lean and its application in an Engineering environment, facilitating improvement workshops.
- Able to work to deadlines under challenging situations whilst maintaining safety, quality, and engineering integrity of the solutions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills: able to align teams, influence stakeholders, and represent the program with confidence in internal and external forums.
