The Electrical System Engineering Intern will work with a team of system engineers within the HVDC unit of GE Vernova to ensure that the business can deliver and change to meet the demands of the grid and renewable energy market. As leaders in the energy space, our goal is to accelerate the transition for a more energy efficient grid to fulfil the needs of tomorrow. Our projects are unique and interesting, and you’ll need to bring a solution‑focused, positive approach to each one to collaborate with world renowned experts on game‑changing technologies.
Based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK, the role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to innovate, expand their technical skills and develop personally within an internationally recognised company in the renewables and grid sectors. The successful candidate will be part of a cohort of interns working within a 12‑month development plan that allows them to stretch outside of their core academic background that prepares them for successful careers.
Role Responsibilities:
- Main electrical circuit design
- Electrical insulation coordination studies
- Transient & RMS studies
- Equipment lifecycle management
- Reliability, availability and maintainability studies
- Electrical losses management
- Filter design
- Solution development and industrialisation
The Person (Qualifications):
The successful candidate will ideally have completed 2 years of degree level study in a related field such as Electrical Power Systems and Power Electronics or equivalent experience and be predicted to obtain at least a 2:1 at Bachelors level.
