The EHS Manager will advise and influence all GSI Operations employees and Contractors on the implementation of our EHS policy and management system. Facilitate the implementation of ongoing effective EHS programs and strategies that assure compliance with regulatory requirements; Participate in the elimination or reduction of the occurrence of unwanted, undesired events such as injuries, illnesses, unsafe conditions, environmental releases, high exposures to chemical and physical agents, failure to obtain operating permits or meet permit requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the Plant Manager and for the function to the GSI Global EHS Operations Manager; they will be an integral part of senior management and provide advice on strategy, accountability.
- Develop and maintain EHS programs consistent with GE Vernova Framework.
- Develop and implement specific site-specific EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) programs, including emergency preparedness, fire protection, electrical safety, assessment, safety and secure work procedures for activities, hazardous waste management, EHS training, ergonomics, contractor safety, machine protection, chemical safety, PPE (personal protection equipment) and crisis management.
- Collaborate with operational and functional managers of the site to ensure that all operational activities are clearly identified, and risks assessed, to ensure the implementation of secure work procedures and control of safety risks.
- Manage Injury & Illness cases, introduce and monitor programs for reduction of injury rate.
- Identification, coordination and completion of all EHS Regulatory training for the plant.
- Develop an audit & inspection program, ensure audit findings identified and closed within business timeframe.
- Knowing and supporting GSI, EHS strategy, assure the cascading to the plant.
- Perform EHS culture survey, develop and implement action plans to improve EHS working environment.
- Support, develop and implement the contractor management program.
- Maintain security processes to GE Vernova requirements.
- Develop proactive health surveillance and ergonomics initiatives.
- Provide EHS support to all operational business areas – including customer requirements.
- Share EHS expertise and provide support to other operational fixed facility sites.
- Manage EHS resources effectively, growth competencies, leadership, credibility and recognition.
- Participation and advise on EHS matters for all new technologies and process introduction / changes for the facility. Implement management of change (MOC) process.
- Participation and advise on EHS Matters for fixed facility modifications and construction. Ensure compliance with MOC process.
- Lead the Governance and compliance at the site following Local regulation and GEV / GSI requirements.
- Manage all ongoing programs and action plans implemented by the site for the protection of the environment, including permits for air emissions, hazardous waste management, and wastewater management.
- Ensure the reliability and proper execution of emergency response and business continuity plans.
- Responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable EHS compliance reports to GEV Stakeholders and external regulators.
- Stays current on EHS regulatory requirements and technical issues, and issue relevant information to implement programs, achieve compliance, and minimize risks.
- Constantly observing plant/process for potential safety concerns and working to resolve issues.
- Be the Guardian of the integrity of all EHS data and EHS reports in/out of the plant.
Qualifications Required
- University graduate with Environment or/and Health & Safety or/and demonstrated technical background.
- At least 5 years EHS experience at Manufacturing operations, Field services operations or Construction.
- Knowledge of local EHS legislation.
- Fluent oral and written English and Local Language.
- Good communication/influencing skills.
- 3+ years’ experience in leadership role is preferred.
- Strong experience working in a matrix organization.
- Computer literacy.
- Autonomy and decision-making responsibility.
- Works with a very high level of autonomy and is fully responsible for: Site EHS Program, EHS Training, Influencing EHS culture, External & internal contacts, Regulatory agencies, Internal EHS representatives, Staff, Managers and employees, Contractor representatives, GEV / Electrification / GSI EHS community.
