AC Alternator Validation and Test Engineer
As an AC Alternator Validation and Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical testing of rotating machines and power generation systems for the marine sector. You will also provide product test support from initial inquiry to project closure. Reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager, you will perform both hands‑on and office‑based activities ensuring the timely testing of solutions that are safe and cost‑effective.
Responsibilities
- Testing rotating machine systems of the highest quality, from the receipt of an order to handover to the customer, while complying with business procedures, standards, and regulations with a high focus on safety throughout.
- Verification and validation of functional integration and transversal requirement of the equipment.
- Support installation, commissioning, test, fault finding and upkeep of electro‑mechanical systems LV.
- Coordinate with design team to meet installation, test, and project objectives (Safety, quality, delivery and cost).
- Material and sample testing and test house coordination.
- Participate in plant control room operations and data acquisition.
- Undertake equipment installation, maintenance, and modifications.
- Supervise and manage subcontractors.
- Identify and propose improvements in processes, tools, and system solutions, rolling out improvements when agreed with leadership team.
- Maintain and promote the highest standards of Health and Safety.
- Integration of large electro‑mechanical systems to test.
- Planning and executing relevant engineering activities to ensure projects attain on‑time delivery, cost, and quality targets, including testing and documentation.
- Take part in phase reviews, design reviews, ILS reviews, FMEA, and determine their attendees, objectives and next steps as well as acting as the review chairperson.
- Liaise with suppliers to produce quotations and support their site activities.
- Ensure issued documents have been reviewed and are of the required quality, with adherence to specifications and standards.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree in Electromechanical or equivalent qualifications.
- EHS and First Aid certificates.
- Electrical Competence LV Authorized.
- Proven track record of testing electro‑mechanical systems in a professional engineering environment.
- UK citizenship with a valid British Passport (\”UK Eyes only\”).
- Possession of or ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
