GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional Mechanical Field Engineer to join our Power Conversion team based in the United Kingdom.

The Mechanical Field Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical field engineering services for rotating machinery including power generators both onshore and offshore. This role exists to ensure the safe, effective, and timely execution of field service activities on customer sites across the UK. Working within defined procedures and step-by-step operational instructions, the Mechanical Field Engineer supports the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of rotating machines, including generators, helping customers maximise equipment reliability and performance.

Your Impact:

  • Deliver high-quality on-site life-extension, repair, inspection, and diagnostic services to keep customer rotating machinery performing reliably.
  • Lead safe and compliant field operations by setting the standard for EHS excellence.
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and service mechanical rotating machine systems.
  • Provide clear technical direction and supervision to technicians and craft labour when required.
  • Build strong customer relationships by acting as a trusted technical interface.
  • Strengthen operational quality through accurate preparation of safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, and inspection reports.
  • Continuously expand technical expertise and maintain up-to-date knowledge of reporting systems.

Special Role Requirements:

  • Able to travel extensively to and from projects and various field assignments.
  • Ability to spend considerable time away from home for projects and field assignments.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

  • The ideal candidate is a safety-driven and technically skilled field service engineer with proven on-site services experience.
  • Holds a mechanical technician trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to EHS values and consistently upholds high safety standards.
  • Brings hands-on mechanical field service experience in at least two key disciplines.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, with strong interpersonal, organisational, and project-management skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision while also providing leadership and direction to others.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
  • Willing to travel across the UK and internationally - often at short notice.
  • Holds (or can obtain) MoD security clearance.
