Job Description Summary
GE’s Power Conversion and Storage business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications.
We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
This is an opportunity to work as part of cross-functional team to deliver product designs that meet customer and project requirements in close conjunction with Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and collaborate with Customers and Project Management, Sourcing and Procurement, Manufacturing and Quality teams.
Job Description
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Understanding contractual requirements and provide technical solution in case of a conflict in a timely manner with quality.
- Specification, design and engineering of large electrical machines.
- To carry out detailed analytical / finite element analysis of machines and their performance.
- To design models and/or prototype tests for the machines to improve noise and vibration performance.
- Investigating new materials and methods to improve the competitiveness of the machines.
- Working closely with customers and other third parties to provide the solutions they require.
- Creation and submission of required design data to document the design progress.
- Required Qualifications
- A relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 8 years’ experience, or a significant experience in a rotating electrical machines engineering environment.
- Solid knowledge of 3D and/or 2D finite element analyses for mechanical designs.
- Expertise in ANSYS/Workbench with experience of stress and fatigue analyses.
- Know-how of rotating electrical machines, their engineering challenges and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with engineering design processes.
- Familiarity with a variety of Industry Standards, i. e. ISO 9000, BS EN, IEC 60034, etc.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Flexible approach, willing to work extended hours and travel as and when required
- Desired Characteristics
- Sole British Nationality, SC (Security Check) clearance in the past / currently holding.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills with ability to work in a dynamic team environment to set and meet aggressive goals for the business needs.
- Methodical workstyle with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge/experience of Teamcenter, SAP or equivalent PLM software.
- An understanding of scheduling and planning and its importance.
