Our technologies are helping power the world, decarbonising industry and supporting global security and defence through our electric technologies. If you want to make a difference in the world, this job role is for you!
At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and build some of the most technically advanced electrical rotating machinery in the world. We specialise in manufacturing large electrical rotating machinery: motors and generators, across a wide variety of industrial applications. Our motors power some of the most advanced warships in the world, while our generators decarbonise industry for a more sustainable future.

The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team is part of the RMR Engineering Department and consists of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for the development and implementation of new innovative manufacturing technologies. We drive improvements to execution, efficiency, and cost reduction through continual implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques and innovative ideas – a key part of the scope of work. We also ensure all prior preparations are in place so new projects can be manufactured as efficiently as possible. Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Leader, the Manufacturing Readiness Engineer leads preparations for manufacturing to ensure a safe, right‑first‑time execution that can start and finish on time. Working cross‑functionally, the engineer ensures everything is ready before manufacture and provides technical leadership and active support of project builds during execution.

  • Coordinate planning, installation/commissioning of new kit, equipment, or contractor supervision.
  • Develop and validate new tooling suppliers.
  • Analyse and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency.

Working cross‑functionally as part of a global GE team to ensure our customers (both external and internal) are satisfied with their experience of dealing with us.
