Job Description Summary
GEs Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems that are critical to customers power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the worlds major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies.
Our Lead Engineers are essential to the successful executions of our projects. They provide technical leadership to other engineers and customer facing teams, they oversee each phase of the project delivery to make sure that we deliver valuable systems solutions with an excellent operational rigour.
Job Description
In this role you will
- Lead a multidiscipline team of engineers specializing in power systems, power conversion, automation, control and mechanical integration ensuring the overall solution meets customer, contract, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, advice and assistance to the overall project team as appropriate including Commissioning, Service and 3rd parties.
- Support the Project Manager as required and deputise for them as and when the need arises. Plan and progress all design engineering related activities including testing and commissioning for specific projects.
- Monitor, control and manage engineering budgets, project documentation, risk management process, design reviews and quality & change control system in accordance with company guidelines.
- Support improvement initiatives and cost out plans in collaborations with teams from other business units.
To be a successful in this role, you should have
- Experience in an engineering leadership environment
- Experience in application engineering in one or more fields, from power engineering, electrical drive systems, grid connected systems and automation
- Experience in specifying components: drives, motors, transformers, switchboards
- Experience of design and system integration working on complex multi-disciplinary projects
- Experience in any field of power generation, conversion, transmission and distribution
- LV and MV variable speed drives and motors
- Experience of owning the job, making it their own, and adding value beyond
- Capable of leading large multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of tasks to strict time scales
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
- Customer-centric mind set, experience in translating customer issues / needs into profitable business solutions
Qualifications
Min Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar degree with suitable industry experience.
