Job Description

• As the Lead Control & Protection Application Engineer, you will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic team of engineers working on design, development, and maintenance of control and protection system application software for LCC and VSC HVDC schemes following full SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall requirements, design, implementation, and testing of HVDC Control and Protection application software.
• Work as part of an expert team, providing opportunities to learn design and development skills relevant to control and protection systems, particularly in power electronics and grid technology.
• Execute analysis, simulation, testing, and integration to define and support components, modules, or systems that meet business standards.
• Apply experience and on-the-job training to solve problems.
• Propose solutions utilizing technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and experience.
• Coach and mentor team members, lead small projects with low risks, and manage performance.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications / Essential Requirements

• Engineering degree in Computer Science, power systems, power electronics, or equivalent experience in HVDC.
• Experience in designing and developing event and rate-driven application software for control and protection systems.
• Knowledge of power system characteristics and interactions between AC and HVDC systems.
• Proficiency with PSCAD, MATLAB-SIMULINK.
• Experience promoting Agile practices, and using Git, Jira, Confluence.
• Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude.

Desired Characteristics

• Experience in process improvement or RCA, certifications preferred.
• HVDC industry experience.
• Advanced knowledge of HVDC control, protection, and sequencing strategies.
