Become part of a winning team and help to deliver the Green Energy transition.
To ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the environment.
To ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, in addition to UK and International legislation.
To undertake testing and commissioning activities on newly installed primary and secondary equipment during construction phases of projects and during in-service substation reconfigurations or extensions.
Responsibilities
Job Description

  • To effectively manage and supervise staff to ensure projects are executed in line with Client and GE expectations, programmes and within budget.
  • To ensure accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation are created, maintained, and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.
  • Liaise with the Commissioning Manager to effectively supervise, train, mentor and co-ordinate training and development plans for other assigned commissioning staff on site.
  • To undertake assignments throughout the UK and globally as and when required.
  • To undertake assignments or work on Offshore projects.
  • To enact the role of LVAP on projects where GE are the Principal Contractor.

Operations

  • Promotes safe working practices and continual improvement in site safety culture.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient testing and commissioning of substation equipment ensuring that agreed activities are carried out in strict accordance with the pre-set time scales, budgets and applicable quality processes.
  • Effectively undertakes operational responsible for the daily management and setting to work of site commissioning field resources in order to maximize the potential for successful project delivery.
  • Responsible for the preparation, creation and issue of site test documentation including but not limited to RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement), NCRs (Non-conformance Report), TQs (Technical Queries) in accordance with approved processes and procedures.
  • Communicating site non-compliances or deviations to Site Manager and Project Engineer.
  • Reports to the Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.
  • Enacts the role of LV Authorised Person (Advanced) in accordance with requirements of GE Low Voltage Safe Systems of Work (LVSSOW) procedures.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and experience in the field of Site Commissioning.
  • Capable of working independently in problem solving and decision making.

Deliverables

  • Responsible for organising work to an agreed program and to execute commissioning activities within the pre-set time scales and budgets.
  • Demonstrate adequate skills in interpretation, optimization and application of company policies to achieve key deliverables.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering / HND in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.

Specific Knowledge

  • Experience & knowledge of HV substation protection relays, SCADA systems an IEC61850 protocol.
  • Testing & Commissioning of HV and LV Switchgear and Equipment.
  • Fault finding on protection schemes and use of test equipment such as omicron, programma & megger.
  • Computer literate.

Business Understanding

  • Knowledge and experience of Construction and Field Services site work.
