As a Lead Electrical CAD Engineer , you will be responsible for developing electrical systems design of motors, generators, electrical drives and switchboards for marine and power generation applications.

You will be involved at all stages of the system design process from concept to delivery of equipment and systems.

You will be working with project managers, technical leads and power systems and power electronics teams to deliver projects to customer requirements.

In this role you will focus on

  • Integrate electrical systems to meet customer requirements.
  • Create detailed circuit diagrams using E-Plan and electrical equipment 2D layouts using Auto CAD.
  • Create and manage parts and Bo Ms in Siemens Teamcenter PLM system.
  • Act as a principal point of contact for the electrical design portions of project execution, providing clear guidance to other engineering teams for design requirements, supporting the manufacturing of our equipment and procurement of electrical parts and assemblies and helping resolving quality issues with vendors.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing and support the quality function in the timely resolution of customer issues and the identification of root causes.
  • Ensure that 'Design for Manufacture and Assembly' techniques are implemented in the design process.
  • Participate in technical reviews of designs, providing support for the resolution of problems and ensuring all designs incorporate best engineering practice.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with

  • Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport ("UK Eyes only")
  • Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
  • Proficiency in the use of EPLAN or similar design software, for the creation of electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Proficiency in the use of Auto CAD for the creation of 2D drawings.
  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, or significant experience in an electrical design engineering environment.
  • Good technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, electrical circuit design.
  • An understanding of design challenges for high-voltage applications (HV 1k V AC / 1,5k V DC)
  • Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Prior experience on active magnetic bearings., This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
