Overview
HVDC Site Lead Engineer / Lead Field Engineer role at GE Vernova. Based in the UK (Stafford/NSE), this field role supervises and manages a team of engineers/technicians and/or subcontractors for the installation, pre-commissioning, and maintenance of HVDC Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field engineers/technicians; perform assembly, repair and maintenance, and pre-commissioning work on-site at customers or in workshops/test facilities.
- Lead mechanical work and electrical testing on site.
- Update technical documentation related to site activities.
- Plan projects and prepare works (tools/equipment, spare parts, documentation).
- Report progress (daily reporting, Smartsheet management, progress charts and documentation).
- Quality monitoring and traceability (NCRs, reports, quality plans, etc.).
- Perform administrative tasks related to the role (close-out reporting, lessons learnt).
- Ensure safety and strengthen the EHS culture in line with GE lifesaving principles and GE EHS policies; report dangerous situations and promote safety observation reporting.
- Maintain the Valve Delivery Project Plan; participate in Valve Project Smartsheet Plan and Valve Risk Register; review planned hours and cost-to-completion against budget.
- Adhere to GE HVDC Valve operation rhythm and Valve Engineering SIPOC/delivery processes; maintain on-time delivery and KPI accountability.
- Participate in cross-functional tasks; lead non-conformities related to valve site activities with action plans and closure accountability; participate in Valve Engineering Gate Reviews and Engineering Design Reviews; represent HVDC Valve at customer sites and with GE partners when required.
- Share good practices and lessons learned for continuous improvement; tasks include pipe fitting, mechanical build, busbar jointing, fibre optics, pressure tests, flow tests, cooling plant knowledge, and electrical checks/tests.
