Join our team at GE Vernova - Grid Automation as an Electrical Protection Engineer! In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the programming and testing of Protection relays and designing protection solutions for both the Electric Utility & Industrial markets for the Grid Solutions business. In-depth knowledge & hands-on experience of Protection and scheme design is an essential element of this role. This is an exciting opportunity to make impactful decisions, apply your expertise, and ensure the successful delivery of projects from inception to site commissioning.

Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgement may be required but this is typically with guidance. Roles and responsibilities are aligned with the project lifecycle from design through commissioning, with emphasis on protection relay configurations, panel designs, documentation, and customer interaction.

  • Technical Project: Work with the project technical lead to ensure successful project execution from design to commissioning. Producing protection relay configurations, and panel designs.
  • Project Management: Ensure engineering tasks are completed to a high standard of quality in alignment with project time scales, providing regular progress updates to technical leads and project management.
  • Design and Documentation: Analyse customer specifications, write project technical documentation, and validate technical solutions with customers.
  • Technical Oversight: Specify software and IEDs, manage technical execution planning, and ensure adherence to GE Vernova safety standards.
  • Issue Resolution: Address technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site engineers remotely or on-site.
  • Testing and Commissioning: Perform Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and coordinate with commissioning teams for major site milestones.
  • Training and Support: Support technical leads in providing project-specific training to customers, support tendering and commercial teams, and ensure customer satisfaction through professional project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background: BSc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience: in protection and electrical design engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of protection functions, configuration and testing, electrical scheme, and cubicle design.
  • Design Expertise: Proficient in designing and configuring protection relays and network studies.
  • GE Vernova Substation Automation Solutions: Preferred candidates will have proven knowledge in this area (Micom, Multilin etc.).
  • Travel: Ability to travel locally and globally, with a valid driver’s license.
