Overview
You are a technical client-focused Solution specialist who seeks to understand emerging energy industry trends and implications on utilities.
Responsibilities
- Engage with utility clients to understand their business needs and the impact of emerging trends as distributed energy resources (DERs) on their distribution system.
- Collaborate with the Services function (Delivery Manager and Project Manager) to interact with customers defining, producing and maintaining an optimal Solution Design based on customer needs and product capabilities.
- Own the design deliverables (Statement of Work, Solution Architecture documents), ensure traceability of requirements with solutions proposed.
- Be responsible for the communication and enforcement of the Solution Design to Customer and Key Project Stakeholders.
- Manage involvement of other SMEs (e.g. business analysts, IT / Cybersecurity experts) and ensure their design contributions meet system architecture functional and non-functional requirements.
- Drive excellence in execution through continuous improvement in their segment or domain (best practices and reference material - reference architectures, reference solutions).
- Collaborate with Product Managers & Engineering (Customer Voice, Return on Experience, product enhancements, reference architectures).
- Build technical expertise in the field of their segment or domain. Deliver technical consultancy services on demand.
- Coordinate knowledge capitalization and dissemination across the Services & Solution Design teams.
- Be accountable for activities planning, progress reporting, and completing activities in scope per approved budget.
Qualifications/Requirements – Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar program, with a focus on Computer Science and Electrical Engineering / Power systems.
- Electricity industry knowledge, with proven relevant work experience as a Business Analyst or Solution Architect.
- Understand how to trace a requirement to a design specification and the test plans / cases.
- Experience with software development and integrating custom solutions with a product (GE Vernova GridOS ADMS).
- Experience with Linux, Source code Management, Virtualization, Cloud Architecture (AWS and/or Azure), Micro-services architectures.
- Experience with cloud and cloud-native technologies such as containers and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to iterative product development and program management techniques including Agile, Safe, Scrum, DevOps.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to articulate specific technical topics or assignments.
- Professional English level.
Qualifications/Requirements – Nice To Have
- Knowledge of emerging energy industry trends and implications on utility customers (Renewables and DER orchestration, distribution planning, IT/OT, SCADA).
- Experience in Services – Software Commissioning.
- Experience of utility network management systems, ideally in the electricity industry.
- Experience of SCADA.
- Exposure to Outage Management and Customer Call Centre applications.
- Familiarity with CIM / CGMES standards, IEC 61970/61968, or other energy modeling frameworks.
- Familiarity with power systems analysis e.g. load flow, short circuit analysis.
- Experience of system integration e.g. SOAP, REST, Kafka etc.
- Experience of scripting and/or programming languages e.g. shell, perl, python, java etc.
- Familiarity with database technologies including RDBMS, SQL, NOSQL and data modelling, data migration.
